Note :
At the insistent request of some English-speaking visitors, I was forced to translate this lexicon from French to English. It’s a colossal job that took me a lot of time, I applied myself and tried to do my best. Despite this, since English is not my usual language, there could be some translation errors here and there. If you find any, do not hesitate to report them to me by writing to me through the contact page of this website.
Thank you in advance !
LINGALA, A BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE.
LINGALA is one of the four national languages spoken in D.R CONGO (formerly ZAIRE), that is the language which is spoken in the capital Kinshasa, it is the communication language of the Congolese national army and it is especially the most understood in the whole country which makes it the cement of communication. In other respects, it is also the language that connects the two CONGO.
The lexicon that is online on this website is the result of a work I started when I got married to help my non-lingual wife learn our language and follow our conversations between Zairians. This work continued with my children to help them follow Congolese theatres, then I decided to develop it so that all our children in the diaspora might benefit from it and also to help all non-Congolese who dream of learning this beautiful language. As for the Congolese who already speak Lingala, this lexicon could serve as a tool for them to learn or improve in the English language. Of course, this is only my version in which I tried to be as rigorous as possible, but which necessarily contains some imperfections here and there. If you find any, feel free to let me know so I can correct them if necessary.
Thank you in advance !
